AMC MovieWatcher/MovieWatcher.com
The following Privacy Policy describes how AMC, through AMC Theatres retail movie theatres, AMCTheatres.com, MovieWatcher.com and other AMC websites, uses and protects your personal information. To assist you with reading our Privacy Policy, we have provided answers to questions you may find most important:
-
WHAT INFORMATION ABOUT ME DOES AMC COLLECT?
AMC protects the privacy of its customers. There are two types of information that may be exchanged between you and us during each visit you make to an AMC theatre and one of our websites:
- Anonymous information, and
- Personal information that you voluntarily share.
Anonymous information AMC collects: AMC may receive anonymous technical information from your computer when you visit AMCTheatres.com, MovieWatcher.com or any other AMC website, which AMC will use to improve its websites and the services it provides through those sites. AMC may receive anonymous information from your computer, such as information on what search engine you used to access AMCTheatres.com (such as google.com), the previous AMC website you visited, the type of internet browser you use, the computer operating system you use, and your computer's IP address. This information is not personally associated with you, and AMC may share it with third parties from time to time.
Personal information AMC collects: We may ask that you provide certain personal information about yourself when you take advantage of services available. Personal information is any type of information that can identify you, such as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and credit card. We may ask you to provide your personal information when you create an online account, purchase products or services, join a frequent moviegoer program, participate in a sweepstakes, promotion or survey, contact AMC Theatres with a question or concern, apply for employment with AMC Theatres, or participate in other activities at your local AMC Theatres retail movie theatre or when you visit our websites. When we ask you to submit your personal information on one of our online forms, we will identify the fields that we will require to fulfill your request. You always have the option of mailing AMC with the requested information if you do not wish to provide it online. When you provide your personal information on an AMC website, AMC will protect your information as data protection laws require.
Credit information AMC collects: We may collect your financial information such as credit and debit card numbers and bank and other financial institution account numbers in connection with transactions you enter into with AMC. We use your financial information to help us perform these transactions and to deliver the goods and services you have requested. We may use third party service providers to help us perform some of these tasks. In such instances, we will provide your financial information to these third parties for the sole purpose of performing these tasks. We may also provide your financial information to your credit card issuer, financial institutions or credit card processors to process transactions. We will not be responsible or otherwise liable for any use or disclosure of your financial information by a third party to whom AMC is allowed to disclose your financial information under this privacy policy.
-
HOW DOES AMC USE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
AMC uses the personal information for the purpose for which you provided it, such as to fulfill your request for products, services or information, to process and administer your contest or sweepstakes entry, to activate your online account, or to tailor our online or in-store offerings to your preferences. When you join AMC's MovieWatcher Club, we will use your information to provide you with an Online Newsletter, entertainment news, e-mail offers, and movie ticket savings. To provide you with some of these benefits, we will ask you to specify the types of e-mail communications you'd like to receive from us. Receiving marketing communications from us is optional, and you can change or stop receiving these communications at any time.
-
DOES AMC SHARE OR TRANSFER THE INFORMATION I PROVIDE?
Disclosure to other AMC entities. AMC may combine or share any information you provide with its other AMC entities and subsidiaries. It may also release personal information in the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event.
Disclosure to other parties. AMC uses agents, contractors and other companies to assist it in providing services, fulfilling orders and information requests, and for other purposes associated with the products that you may purchase from AMC. Often, for AMC to fulfill your order or deliver to you the product or service you ordered, or provide you with the information you requested, these agents, contractors or other companies must receive your personal information. AMC will disclose your personal information in these circumstances. When AMC uses agents, contractors or other companies to perform services on its behalf, AMC will require that they protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. AMC may also disclose personal information to other entities in relation to planned or potential corporate sales, mergers, reorganizations, dissolutions or similar events. These entities will not use personal information for unrelated marketing purposes and will protect any personal information disclosed by AMC in accordance with AMC's privacy policy.
Disclosure required by law. From time to time, AMC may be required to provide personal information in response to a court order, subpoena, government investigation, or as otherwise required by law. We may release personal information under these circumstances. We also reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we, in good faith, believe to be unlawful. We also may release certain personal information when we believe that the release is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of others and ourselves.
Merger or Transfer of Interest. If AMC transfers ownership interest in its AMC Theatres or MovieWatcher program, such as acquisition by or merger with another company. Your information will be treated as an asset and transferred in the event of a sale or transfer of AMC, i.e. your information may be passed on to a third party in the event of a transfer of ownership, or assets, or bankruptcy of AMC. AMC will provide notice when any personal information it transfers becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Transfer of information. The AMCTheatres.com and MovieWatcher.com websites, as well as other AMC websites, are operated in the United States. If you reside outside of the United States, such as in the European Union or elsewhere, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to and processed in the United States. If you do not wish for us to transfer your personal information into the United States, do not submit it to us. If you provide us with your personal information, we will treat your submission of that information as your consent to allow us to transfer it to the United States. Any personal information that we receive will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
-
HOW DOES AMC KEEP MY PERSONAL INFORMATION SECURE?
We use several encryption methods and other measures to ensure that the personal information you submit on AMCTheatres.com, MovieWatcher.com, or any other AMC website is secure. Moreover, information that you input into an AMC online form will be transmitted using a secure session and will arrive privately and unaltered at an AMC server. We take reasonable measures to ensure that your information remains reliable, accurate, complete and current. We also take physical, electronic and managerial steps to maintain the security and accuracy of information we collect, including limiting the number of people who have physical access to our database servers, as well as using electronic security systems and password protections that guard against unauthorized access by third parties or other web users.
Because your personal information and credit card security is a high priority, we have taken numerous steps to ensure that we process your information confidentially, accurately and securely. The AMCTheatres.com and MovieWatcher.com websites use encryption technology, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), to protect your personal information and credit card information during data transport. SSL encrypts ordering information such as your name, address and credit card number. But note, some older browser versions and some firewalls do not permit communication through secure servers. In that case, you will be unable to securely purchase products.

DOES AMC USE COOKIES OR OTHER TECHNOLOGIES?
Cookies. Cookies are information files that our websites may send to your computer to provide extended functionality and to allow us to collect anonymous data to track usage patterns, monitor activity and administer our websites. Cookies let us "remember" information about your preferences and allow you to move about our websites without reintroducing yourself.
We may use cookies for a number of purposes, such as tracking usage patterns on the website, measuring the effectiveness of advertising, or limiting multiple responses and registrations when we conduct polls and sweepstakes. We do not use these cookies to access, retrieve or store your personal information. Through the preferences or options menus in your browser, you can disable cookies, receive a warning before a cookie is placed on your computer, and erase cookies from your hard drive. It is possible, however, that some parts of our websites will not operate correctly if you disable the cookie feature. You should consult with your browser's provider/manufacturer if you have any questions regarding disabling cookies.
Log Data. When you visit AMC's websites, our web servers automatically collect anonymous information that describes how our visitors use and navigate our website. This information includes the number and frequency of visitors to each web page and the length of their stays, as well as the anonymous information that your web browser automatically sends to us, such as browser type, referrer data that identifies the web page visited before and after your visit to our website, and IP addresses. We also may determine what technology is available through your browser to serve you the most appropriate version of a web page. For example, we may determine that you have installed a version of Flash, and we will then send to you the appropriate Flash version of the web page rather than an HTML page.
IP Addresses. An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer or network when you are on the Internet. When visitors request pages from our website, our servers log the visitor's IP address. We may collect IP addresses for a variety of internal purposes, such as system administration, to report aggregate information to our advertisers, and to audit the number of visits to different pages on our website.

DOES AMC COLLECT INFORMATION FROM CHILDREN?
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. Before we use personal information of child that is 12 years old or younger, we first require that child to have his or her parent complete and sign a parental consent form. This parental consent form tells parents about the types of personal information we collect and use about a child (such as that child's name, address, telephone number, hobbies, gender and age), how we protect that personal information, and whether we give that personal information to anyone else. And, by completing and providing us with this form, a parent lets us know if we may collect and use his or her child's personal information.
Unless you tell us otherwise, AMC will only use the personal information for the purpose the information was provided. For instance, when a child registers for our Read for the Stars program, we will collect only their email address and use it for the sole purpose of sending them information about the Read for the Stars program.
In all cases, we protect children's personal information in accordance with this privacy policy, the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, and as applicable data protection laws require. We will not use children's personal information for any marketing or promotional purposes outside AMC or share this personal information with outside third-parties, nor will we allow children 12 years old or younger to publicly post their personal information on an AMC site without first obtaining their parents' consent. We do not request children 12 years old or younger to share more personal information than is needed to participate in an AMC activity.
As a parent, you have the right to review what personal information your child has shared with AMC. You also have the right to have us delete that information and prohibit us from collecting or using personal information from your child in the future.
